Israel claims top Hezbollah commander killed in airstrike on Lebanese capital

Israel appears to have dealt Hezbollah another major blow – killing its operations commander and 11 others in a rare airstrike on a densely populated neighbourhood of Beirut.

Ibrahim Akil had reportedly only just been discharged from hospital after being injured in the attacks using the group’s pagers and walkie-talkies this week.
