Human rights groups have condemned a plan outlined by Israel’s defence minister that would see Palestinians confined to an area in the south of the Gaza Strip.

Israel Katz said he’d asked the army to prepare a plan for what he called a “humanitarian city” near Rafah that would eventually house the Strip’s entire population.
One human rights lawyer told this programme the plan amounted to the “most basic violation of international law” .
The details emerged as Benjamin Netanyahu was on a trip to Washington DC.
