Israel launches major ground attack on central Gaza after evacuation call

Israel has launched a major ground and air attack on the Gazan city of Deir-al-Balah – a day after the military ordered residents to leave.

At least eight people have been killed as tanks and military vehicles moved into parts of the city – where it’s believed some of the Israeli hostages are being held by Hamas.
The UN’s food agency has also accused Israel of opening fire on a crowd of Palestinians seeking food aid in northern Gaza.
