Israel launches major new offensive to expand ground in Gaza

Indirect talks between Hamas and Israel have resumed in Doha ‘without preconditions’ according to a Hamas official – as Israel says it’s in the early stages of a military operation to expand its control over parts of Gaza.

In the last 24 hours, Israeli air strikes killed at least 140 people, making this one of the deadliest phases of bombardment since the previous ceasefire collapsed in March.

According to the Hamas-led health authorities, the total death toll since October 2023 is now over 53,000 people.
