Israel has said it has recovered the body of one hostage and the remains of another during an operation in the Gaza Strip, as the country “intensifies” its offensive on Gaza City.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Friday that one set of remains belongs to Ilan Weiss, who was killed on October 7, 2023, while defending Kibbutz Be’eri against attacking Hamas gunmen.
The remains of the second Israeli are now being examined for identification at the Institute of Forensic Medicine.
