Israel says it will allow limited quantities of aid into the Gaza Strip, but families of hostages held in the territory have criticsed the government for pampering "murderers".
The assistance – including food, water and medicine – is to be delivered from the Egyptian border into Gaza "as soon as possible," US President Joe Biden said during remarks in Tel Aviv.
He also announced the US will fund $100 million (£82 million) in aid to support the strip and the West Bank.
Israel "will not thwart humanitarian supplies from Egypt" as long as it goes to the "civilian population in the southern Gaza Strip," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said in a statement.
