Israel’s Central Elections Committee has banned all majority Arab parties from next month’s elections. The panel is made up of politicians representing factions in Israel’s parliament, the Knesset.

It voted to disqualify the Joint List slate and the Ra’am party under a law which prohibits parties from expressing support for armed struggle.
The decision must be approved by the Supreme Court, which is expected to strike down the bans next week.
