Israeli forces attack Gaza’s al-Shifa hospital

“Hospitals should never be battlegrounds” – the words of the World Health Organisation head today – after Al Shifa hospital in Gaza city yet again became the site of gun battles.

Israel claims Hamas had regrouped at the hospital, with the defence minister saying his soldiers had turned it into a “death trap” for terrorists.

But it is also a place where Gaza’s most weak and vulnerable are receiving desperately needed care.
