Israeli human rights organization: Palestinian detainees 'systematically tortured' in Israel's jails

Israel is coming under increasing scrutiny for its treatment of Palestinians in its detention facilities. The Israeli military is currently investigating several soldiers suspected of serious crimes against a prisoner at the Sde Teiman detention center. Many human rights groups, including Jerusalem-based human rights organization B’Tselem, have documented cases of abuse in Israeli jails, and assert that the alleged rape of a Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman detention center was not an isolated case, but constitutes a widespread pattern of systemic abuse across Israel’s prison system. DW Correspondent Rebecca Ritters reports from Hebron, where she met a former Palestinian prisoner.
