Israeli opposition leader says war in Gaza damaged Israel's reputation - but rejects genocide claims

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has told Sky News that while Israel’s conduct in the war against Hamas has damaged its global image, he rejects any notion that genocide has been committed.

Speaking to Sky’s Dominic Waghorn, Mr Lapid said: "People need to remember this started on October 7th when we were massacred, the worse massacre against Jews since World War Two."

He conceded that the war in Gaza was "horrible" but claimed that "the terms of engagement were set by Hamas".
