But after finishing his performance with the BBC Scottish symphony orchestra last month, Israeli conductor Ilan Volkov felt compelled to speak out.
His speech calling on the world to help end his government’s quote, “horrific” assault on Gaza went viral.
Back in Israel he joined the small left-wing protest movement and was arrested trying to walk into Gaza.
We went to meet him as he prepared to demonstrate again.
