Thick plumes of smoke billowed over the Chiyah neighbourhood as crowds gathered to inspect the damage. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, ignited by the Gaza war, descended into full-scale war in September when Israel went on the offensive, targeting wide areas of Lebanon with airstrikes and sending troops into the south. The Israeli offensive has uprooted more than 1 million people in Lebanon.
