Israel’s Supreme Court is preparing for a crucial hearing on the government’s controversial judicial reforms. Thousands of Israelis demonstrated in Jerusalem ahead of the Supreme Court hearing. All 15 justices will listen to petitions against the reform package, which opponents say would weaken democracy. Israel has been rocked by mass protests since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government proposed the changes in January.
