In Japan, they’ve been putting the humble office chair through its paces, in a Grand Prix of a different kind. Dozens of competitors have taken part in a gruelling, two-hour endurance race inspired by Le Mans, on unmodified, shop-bought office chairs. There are three people on each team who rotate through the race, aiming to complete the most laps. The prize is 90 kilos of rice for the winning team.
