A diplomatic feud is worsening between China and Japan – with the defence of Taiwan at the centre of it.

Japan’s new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi threatened to intervene if China invades Taiwan, as large military drills have continued off the Chinese coast and Japan made accusations of intimidation tactics around islands off the coast of both nations.
In response to the threat, China has begun telling residents to avoid travel to Japan, sending tourism stocks into a freefall and China is also suspending Japanese film releases in the country.
