The right wing populist Javier Milei has been elected as Argentina’s next president – after pledging to tackle the country’s soaring inflation and high levels of poverty.

Mr Milei – who describes himself as an "anarcho capitalist" and an admirer of Donald Trump – became known for embracing conspiracy theories, as well as brandishing a chainsaw during his campaign rallies.
