Proposals to cut prison sentences for some offenders are "making a mockery of the law", according to shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick.
Sir Brian Leveson, chairman of the independent review of the criminal courts, has revealed a proposed shake-up of the justice system, including the limit of jury trials to ease the pressure on courts.
Mr Jenrick said Sir Brian’s proposals are "not the right ones", and "would see people like burglars or sick individuals like stalkers getting off having served just a fifth of their sentence in prison, just 20% of their sentence if they pleaded guilty early".
