John Kerry calls on experts to "put your science on the line" to save Antarctica | ITV News

The former Secretary of State spoke to ITV News Science Correspondent Martin Stew who is on board the British research ship the RRS Sir David Attenborough, as it takes part in an expedition deep within the Antarctic Circle.

He discussed the climate crisis in Antarctica and accused US President Donald Trump of "turning his back on the greatest marketplace the world has ever known."

He says Antarctica provides the United States with a "unique opportunity" to create clean jobs and energy "without causing harm" but that it was a "sad day for humanity" when any one nation stands in the way of science.

Kerry became the first secretary of state to visit Antarctica in 2016 and the first special presidential envoy for climate under Joe Biden.

He appeals to experts on the ice-covered continent to "put your science on the line", urging them to convert those who have doubts "so that we can go forward faster and do what we need to do" to slow down the climate crisis.
