Katerina: the 19-year-old fighter killed in Germany’s 2021 floods

Katharina Kraatz died doing what she loved most – firefighting. She had just begun her career in 2021 when catastrophic floods hit the Ahr Valley in Germany.

Katharina and her father Udo were part of the team sent out to rescue the vulnerable. Katharina lost her life.
