Keir Starmer announces compulsory UK digital ID

Prime minister Sir Keir Starmer is expected to unveil the details for his plan to introduce digital ID cards in the UK today.

He is making the announcement ahead of the Labour Party’s annual conference, which is kicking off in Liverpool over the weekend.

Starmer is using the plans as part of his crackdown on migration, and says having an ID will be a requirement to work in the future.
