Khan Younis at centre of new Israeli operation as fighting resumes in Gaza

Explosions over the eastern part of Khan Younis could be seen and heard in the early hours of Saturday as Israeli air strikes targeted the city in the southern Gaza Strip a day after a ceasefire ended.

Israel said its ground, air and naval forces struck more than 200 ‘terror targets’ in Gaza. On Saturday, a spokesperson for the Gaza health ministry said at least 193 Palestinians had been killed and 650 wounded.
