King Charles has celebrated the relationship between Britain and Germany as he hosted a state banquet at Windsor Castle for President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Budenbender.
Both the monarch and President Steinmeier joked about football, music and the different sense of humour of the two nations.
But they also touched on more serious issues, such as the war in Ukraine.
President Steinmeier’s visit is the first German state visit in 27 years.
