An interim report has found that it’s unlikely the man dubbed ‘King Conker’ cheated in the World Conker Championships.
David Jakins, 82, smashed his way to victory in Sunday’s event – his first championship win since he began competing in 1977.
But his victory was thrown into doubt after it emerged a steel chestnut had been found in his coat pocket.
Mr Jakins vehemently denies cheating, and video evidence has backed his account, a judge told Sky News.
However, further video evidence is being reviewed before a final decision is made.
