Vladimir Putin was served a double helping of White House diplomacy today, as it appeared President Trump’s patience is being tried over Ukraine. He posted on social media that Russia needed to ‘get moving’ – and to reinforce the message, sent his envoy Steve Witkoff to see Putin face to face.
There was less engagement from the White House though, in a meeting of Ukraine’s allies today.
The UK and Germany have already replaced the US as leaders of the ‘Ramstein Group’ coalition.
Today they tried to counter apparently increasing American ambivalence with a massive new package of military aid.
