Kristi Noem news conference after woman shot dead by immigration agent in Minneapolis

Homeland Security Secretary Kristin Noem has been speaking to reporters at a news conference.

"Any loss of life is a tragedy, and I think all of us can agree that in this situation, it was preventable," she begins.

Noem reiterates earlier claims that the incident represented an act of "domestic terrorism".

An ICE agent fired defensive shots at a woman – who had been "stalking and impeding" their work all day – "to save his own life and that of his colleagues", she says.

The officer was treated at a local hospital and has now been released.

"Let me remind you why we’re all here in the city today and why we’ve been here in communities across this country and here in Minneapolis: we’re just enforcing the laws that we have in this country," Noem adds.
