Shadow home secretary and Tory leadership hopeful James Cleverly has accused the Labour government of attempting to resolve prison overcrowding in "completely" the wrong way.
Around 1,700 prisoners have been released early to ease overcrowding inside prisons, and Mr Cleverly told Sky News the "prioritisation" is "completely wrong".
"We’ve seen the images of people saying thank you to the Labour government, just as we saw images of illegal migrants in France waiting for a Labour government before they came across on small boats," said the senior Conservative.
