Labour rebels still questioning welfare concessions ahead of crunch vote | ITV News

Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall has faced fierce questions from backbench Labour MPs as she lays out the concessions the government has made to its welfare reforms, ahead of a crunch vote on Tuesday.

The government had hoped the climbdown on cuts would be enough to shore up support among their own backbenches, but a number of Labour MPs have raised concerns about the plans in a debate in the Commons.

The disabilities minister said he hoped the Government’s welfare changes would be supported by MPs on Tuesday, but would not say he was “confident” the proposals would pass the Commons.

Asked whether he was “confident” that MPs would back the Government’s revised plans, Sir Stephen Timms told Sky News: “We’ve got a very strong package, I certainly hope it passes.”
