Labour 'right' to not stand in 'farce' Clacton by-election as Farage returns to parliament

Chair of the Labour Party Bridget Phillipson has told Sky News that her party was right to not stand against Nigel Farage in the Clacton by-election.

The contest was triggered by the Reform UK leader’s resignation in July in protest at a parliamentary investigation into a £5m "gift" he received.

Mr Farage won with 22,239 votes, which was 62.82% of the vote.

The Clacton by-election was boycotted by all the other major parties.
