The last British and American troops have left Iraq, ending a military mission that began in 2014 to help defeat Islamic State.

It’s the third time UK and US forces have withdrawn from Iraq, following deployments in 1991 and 2003.
Iraqi forces will now take primary responsibility for the country’s security, while US forces continue counter-IS operations in neighbouring Syria.
