Sir Keir Starmer says his government is "putting plans in place" for onward travel for Britons stuck on board a cruise ship hit by a suspected hantavirus outbreak.
Three passengers have died and three others have been left seriously ill, including the two UK nationals, in the suspected outbreak.
Writing on social media, the prime minister said: "My thoughts are with those affected by the hantavirus outbreak onboard the MV Hondius.
"We are working closely with international partners to support British nationals on board and we’re putting plans in place for their safe onward travel.
"The risk to the wider public remains very low – protecting the British people is our number one priority."
A British crew member requires urgent medical care, and a passenger from the UK remains in a critical but stable condition following a suspected hantavirus outbreak on the ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
A British man evacuated from the Dutch-flagged cruise ship to South Africa on April 27 is receiving treatment after being evacuated from the MV Hondius, which was on a polar cruise from Argentina to Antarctica and several South Atlantic islands.

Tensions continued to flare around the Strait of Hormuz – a major flashpoint of the war, which began on February 28 when the US and Israel launched joint attacks on Iran.
"The security of shipping and energy transit has been jeopardised by the United States and its allies through the violation of the ceasefire and the imposition of a blockade," Iranian speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf posted on X.
"Of course, their evil will diminish. We know full well that the continuation of the status quo is intolerable for America, while we have not even begun yet."
The US denied a report by Iranian media that one of its warships was hit by Iranian missiles as it tried to enter the Strait of Hormuz.
