Andrea Miotti, CEO of Control AI, an AI safety campaign group, tells Sky’s Cathy Newman that leading tech companies are building "AI superintelligence", which would put the security of the UK and US in danger.
AI bosses including Anthropic’s Dario Amodei and X’s Elon Musk have called for a global slowdown in the development of AI due to safety risks, but US president Donald Trump responded by rejected calls for new guardrails, saying existing laws are sufficient.
On the panel, Baroness Harriet Harman, former Labour deputy leader and Lord Ed Vaizey, former Conservative minister discuss how the government could regulate AI and keep up with the pace of development.
