Lord Mandelson steps down from Labour party amid Epstein links

Peter Mandelson – the Prime Minister’s man in America, not just stepping down from that role, but from the Labour party itself, with which he is so deeply associated.

The latest Epstein files released revealed the former Labour spin doctor-turned-Lord was given a  $25,000 loan via his partner from Epstein after his 2008 conviction for soliciting girls as young as 14 for prostitution.

In his letter to Labour’s general secretary on Sunday, Lord Mandelson said: "I have been further linked this weekend to the understandable furore surrounding Jeffrey Epstein and I feel regretful and sorry about this."

He added: "Allegations which I believe to be false that he made financial payments to me 20 years ago, and of which I have no record or recollection, need investigating by me."
