Lucky escape for family in New York after manhole explodes

A grandmother and her two young grandchildren were walking in Poughkeepsie, New York when they narrowly escaped an exploding manhole which sent concrete and the manhole cover flying.

Firefighters were at the scene within minutes and found high levels of gas in nearby buildings and other manholes nearby also exploded.
