Speaking in Sāo Paulo, Lula said the result was ‘unexpected’ and that Bolsonaro’s ‘dark past’ would become clearer to voters in the lead-up to that vote. Addressing media in Brasilia, Bolsonaro expressed confidence about the showdown, saying nearly 56 million Brazilians had given him a ‘vote of confidence for change’, and vowed he would fight for ‘Brazil’s future’ rather than power
