Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy has told MPs it was wrong for police to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv from a Europa League match against Aston Villa.
Making a statement to the Commons, she said it was a "fundamental principle that nobody in our country will be excluded from participating in public life because of who they are, must be upheld".
The fans were banned for next month’s match after Birmingham City Council’s Safety Advisory Group (SAG) said there was a serious risk of public disorder if the club were allowed to play.
However, the decision led to accusations of antisemitism.
During the same Commons session, Your Party MP Zarah Sultana called for the government to investigate the Israeli fans for "war crimes".
The co-founder of Your Party said that the supporters "cannot be separated from Israeli militarism".
