Nearly 700,000 women across the UK will take part in an NHS Artificial Intelligence (AI) trial designed to detect breast cancer and shorten waiting lists.
At present, two radiologists are needed to look at the images from mammograms to ensure accuracy.
However, although a positive move forward, experts warn the study must be "rigorous".
