A man has been arrested after he was seen running along Golders Green Road armed with a knife and ‘attempting to stab Jewish members of the public’, the Jewish security group Shomrim has said on social media.

The Metropolitan police said they ‘confronted a man they believed to be a terrorist, who refused to show his hands, who was violent and continued to pose a clear threat’, they added that the officers who intervened were not armed and ‘feared that he was carrying an explosive device’. Shomrim said the two people stabbed were being treated by the Jewish volunteer ambulance service Hatzola. Police have declared the attack a terrorist incident
