Man arrested for possessing weapon near Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's home

A man has been arrested near Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s home, on suspicion of a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon.

Police say the arrest follows reports of a man behaving in an intimidating manner.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Norfolk police said: “Officers were called to Wolferton shortly after 7.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 May 2026) following a report a man was behaving in an intimidating manner in the village.

"Officers attended, and the man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon.

"He was taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning and remains in custody.”

Earlier, the Telegraph reported that Mountbatten-Windsor had been threatened by a balaclava-clad man while walking his dogs.

The man had been sitting in a car near the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, waiting for Andrew, the newspaper said

The late Queen’s second son receives an annual allowance from the King, which includes money intended to cover the cost of private security, although how it is spent is left to him.

Earlier this year, Andrew moved out of Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, where he had long paid a peppercorn rent on the Crown Estate property, and relocated to Marsh Farm on the King’s private Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

Andrew was arrested in February, on his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office following allegations he shared sensitive information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his time as the UK’s trade envoy.

Last year, the King stripped him of his right to use the title of prince and removed his dukedom over his links to Epstein.

Virginia Giuffre, who died in 2025, alleged she was trafficked by Epstein and forced to have sex with Andrew on three occasions, including when she was 17.
