A 31-year-old man has been charged with murder after two Israeli embassy diplomats described as a ‘beautiful couple’ were killed in Washington DC.
Elias Rodriguez, 31, was charged on Thursday with murder of federal officials and other crimes by the US Justice Department.
The Israeli embassy named the diplomats as Yaron Lichinsky and Sarah Milgrim and said it was "heartbroken and devastated".
The pair were leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday evening when a suspect approached a group of people and opened fire, Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith said at a news conference.
