The prime minister said the former cabinet minister lied about the ‘extent and depth of the relationship’ and should not have been appointed as US ambassador. He added that Mandelson has been stripped of his role as privy counsellor, and that he would release any information about the investigation into Mandelson that would not endanger national security and international relations
