Market rises as US court blocks Trump’s tariffs

It’s one of his proudest achievements in the presidency so far.

But in one ruling, a Manhattan court swept away President Trump’s reciprocal tariffs on nearly every country.

The judges ruled he exceeded his authority when he used an emergency law to impose them.

The judgement prompted relief in most global markets, but fury in the White House, and came on the same day another court blocked the president’s ban on international students at Harvard University.
