Activist Zara Fakhrodin helped send a message to a member of the Iranian women’s football team encouraging her to seek asylum in Australia.
She and a crowd of campaigners spent hours trying to get players to stay in the country over fears for their safety if they returned home.
The team were labelled traitors by members of the Iranian regime after staying silent during the national anthem at a game.
Australia granted six players and a member of staff asylum but some have reversed their decision and are heading back to Iran.
