Meet the Afghan refugees forced to return by Pakistan’s government

In recent weeks, Pakistan has dramatically ramped up its policy of forcing refugees from neighbouring Afghanistan to leave.

Tens of thousands have been deported and more have pre-emptively returned, fearing arrest.

For decades, Pakistan had been a haven for those fleeing oppression and war in Afghanistan, even as far back as the Soviet invasion in the 1980s.

But now, the Pakistani government is demanding that Afghans return, some to a country they have never even seen before.
