Police investigating what if any crimes have been committed by the former Prince Andrew and the former Ambassador Lord Mandelson are making good progress. So the head of London’s Metropolitan police told us, during a visit to the United States.
Sir Mark Rowley wants the authorities there to release the unredacted files on both men – who were friends of Jeffrey Epstein.
Sir Mark said he’s confident they’ll be handed over soon.
Andrew’s name appeared at least several hundred times in the document released by the Department of Justice .
He has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
Mandelson was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on February 23 and then released on bail.
He has said, via lawyers, that he looks forward to clearing his name.
In response to the latest Epstein documents released, Mandelson gave the same statement he did to BBC Newsnight on January 12.
He said: “I was wrong to believe Epstein following his conviction and to continue my association with him afterwards. I apologise unequivocally for doing so to the women and girls who suffered."
