The government of Mexico says it will sever diplomatic ties with Ecuador after police there raided its Embassy in the capital Quito.
Officers entered the diplomatic mission to detain the former Ecuadorian Vice President Jorge Glas – who had been granted diplomatic asylum only hours earlier.
