Mineral deal secures supply amid China clampdown | DW News

On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese signed a critical minerals deal at the White House.
The $8.5 billion agreement will allow Washington to import rare earth minerals from Australia. Currently, China is the world’s largest exporter of critical minerals, which are used in everything from fighter jets and electric vehicles to laptops and phones. However, Beijing has increasingly clamped down on the export of critical minerals in recent months.
