Water and floods minister Emma Hardy has told Sky News that the UK’s top civil servant, cabinet secretary Sir Chris Wormald, hasn’t been moved on because of Sir Keir Starmer’s own failures.
Asked by Anna Jones whether Wormald had been forced out as a scapegoat, Hardy said Starmer is "keen to look at his team and make sure that we have the team we need to deliver on the priorities this year."
She added: "He’s absolutely dedicated to cutting the cost of living… so I think it’s right that he has a team that is able to drive that forward."
