A teenage driver has been jailed for two years for causing a crash which nearly killed a four-year-old who was waiting for a bus. James Doherty – who was driving his pregnant wife at the time – had only bought the BMW 45 minutes before the collision in Bristol last November. The boy suffered spinal, rib and pelvic fractures as well as internal bleeding. The court also heard he has since gone blind and requires a wheelchair.
