At least one person has died after a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River off Manhattan on Thursday, the New York Police Department (NYPD) said.
ITV News’ US partner, CNN, reported at least five people were on board at the time of the crash, including two adults and three children.
The city’s fire department received a report of a helicopter in the water at 3:17 pm (EST) on Thursday.
Video posted on social media shows the aircraft primarily submerged in the water upside down with rescue boats circling in the water.
The crash happened in the river near Houston Street and the Holland Tunnel.
ITV News Correspondent Martha Fairlie has the details.
The fire department said it had units on the scene performing rescue operations.
