Mum of Archie York calls for change in law after killer's 14-year sentence | ITV News

The mother of seven-year-old Archie York, who was killed in a shatter cannabis lab explosion in Benwell, Newcastle, has said her son’s killer "took one life, and then he’s got one for free".

Katherine Errington has launched a petition to change sentencing guidelines in the UK, so that those convicted of the most serious crimes serve their sentences one after the other – rather than all at the same time, like her son’s killer Reece Galbraith.

Galbraith’s four separate sentences totalled 31 years, but as they will all be served at the same time – which is known as concurrent sentencing – he will only spend 14 years behind bars.
